Panayiota is thirty-seven and has done housework all her life, and nobody has ever counted it as work. When she takes her first paid job, cleaning in a shopping mall, she has her own money, her own shift and colleagues for the first time; she is good at it and people like her. Then the layoffs start. Behind all of it stands the Greek economic crisis: her husband is out of work and the household’s things are going to the pawnbroker. It is Nikos Labôt’s first feature, a Greek, French and Serbian co-production. Marissa Triantafyllidou plays Panayiota. It had its world premiere in the Discovery section at Toronto in 2018 and took three Hellenic Film Academy awards.
