Josh Kim's film was adapted from two short stories by Rattawut Lapcharoensap and is set in Bangkok in the 1990s. Oat, eleven years old, lives with his older brother and his aunt. Military service in Thailand is decided by lottery: draw black and you are exempt, draw red and you serve. His brother's name is on the list and the family has no money for a bribe. Believing he is saving his brother, Oat attempts something, and what he does makes everything worse. The film does not construct the brother's being gay as a problem, it simply gives it as part of his life; what it is actually about is what poverty and bribery teach a child. It played in the Panorama section in Berlin.
