What I Was Born, But... Is About
The father is promoted and the family moves out to a Tokyo suburb. The two brothers get beaten up by the local boys, then defeat the gang leader and establish an order of their own. Then, at the boss's house, they watch a home movie and see their father in it, clowning to make his superior laugh. The world collapses for them: the strongest man they knew makes himself small in front of somebody else. Ozu made this silent, and remade the idea decades later as Good Morning.
