What Ice Blues: A Donald Strachey Mystery Is About
Donald Strachey is a private investigator in Albany, and his partner Tim asks him to find out who put a large anonymous donation into the local youth centre. The job looks simple and runs immediately into people who would rather the source of that money stayed unknown. This is the fourth and last of the films adapted from Richard Stevenson's novels, all directed by Ron Oliver with Chad Allen in the part. What set the series apart is that it never treated its detective's sexuality as either a secret or a subject: the relationship between Strachey and Tim is the ordinary ground the films stand on, not a background detail. It was nominated for a GLAAD Media Award for outstanding television movie.
