Leonardo DiCaprio J Jennifer Frances Morse P Patricia Lang P Pieter Tans J Jim White T Thom Hartmann What Ice on Fire Is About
The documentary is not content to describe climate change; it asks what can be done. It works along two lines: cutting emissions on one side, and pulling back the carbon already in the atmosphere on the other. It goes through the work one case at a time, from kelp farms and farming methods that feed the soil to direct air capture plants and methane measurements taken under the sea. It talks to scientists and takes its numbers on site. Leila Conners directs; Leonardo DiCaprio narrates and produces. The tone is not despairing, and the film's argument is that technology can turn the problem around. How realistic that is remains a matter of debate.
