What I'll Be Around Is About
A woman in her thirties raising her son on her own learns that she has an illness she will not recover from. From then on her only concern is to find a family to look after her child. She starts meeting people, weighing the candidates, and all the while trying to let her son see nothing. The film does not use the illness or the death to draw tears; it shows a mother doing her last piece of work. The account moves calmly and leaves the feeling to the viewer rather than staging it. Mariya Shalaeva plays the lead in Pavel Ruminov’s ninety five minute Russian film, completed in 2012.
