In Bloom

In Chicago two young men live together and their relationship is about to come apart. A summer spent between staying and leaving; arguments, silences, money that comes from dealing, and things left unsaid. That same summer a serial killer is moving through the neighbourhood and a separate fear hangs over the city. The two stories go forward looking at each other. Chris Michael Birkmeier's independent film was made on a small budget and tells the end of a first love without inflating it. The relationship between the two men is not offered as an issue; it simply ends. Kyle Wigent and Tanner Rittenhouse take the leads. The serial killer part raises an expectation of thriller, but the film does not go there; what it is really interested in is the separation itself.
