In Dog's Words

São Paulo, 2007. Santana works for the city collecting stray animals. He is a good-natured man who keeps away from trouble. One day he catches a very large dog in a school yard. Days later the dog's owner turns up: Babyface, a former policeman and a dangerous man. Under the law the dog has already been put down. Babyface will not accept that and puts the blame on Santana. Marcos Jorge's film describes how violence entering an ordinary man's life changes him step by step. The more Santana has to defend himself the further he gets from himself, and the matter stops being about a dog and goes somewhere else entirely. Babu Santana is in the lead, with Adriana Esteves and Lázaro Ramos in the cast. It belongs to the strand of Brazilian cinema built on violence and class.
