What In Your Arms Is About
Maria is a nurse at a care home in Copenhagen. She is devoted to her work and takes other people’s pain in too readily. Niels is one of the patients staying there. His illness has advanced and his body barely answers him. His tongue is sharp and he is hard on those around him. At their first meeting Maria finds him unpleasant. Everything the man wants has narrowed to one thing. He wants to go to Switzerland and end his life. For that he needs a volunteer to travel with him. Maria pulls him back from an attempt on his own life. Then she decides to help him do what he is asking for. They set out together. They go from Denmark to Germany and on to Switzerland. The longer the road runs, the more the bond between them changes. She begins to look at her own life differently too.
