In Your Eyes

An American film that runs in two states at once. Rebecca lives in New Hampshire. She lives in a large house with her doctor husband, sees nobody and has a period in a hospital in her past. Dylan lives in New Mexico. Just out of prison, he works at a car wash and is trying to put himself together. The two do not know each other. But there is a link between them: if one sees something the other sees it, if one feels pain the other feels it. The link has run since childhood and both took it for years to be an oddity of their own minds. One day they try talking and realise they can hear each other. From there the film describes a relationship carried on at a distance. The two are never in the same room; even so they share each other's days, work and relationships. The problem is the people around them. A woman talking to herself and a man laughing at nothing raise suspicion. Zoe Kazan plays Rebecca and Michael Stahl-David plays Dylan. Joss Whedon wrote it; Brin Hill directed. It was made on a small budget and released directly over the internet, an unusual form of distribution at the time. A pleasant choice for anyone who likes romance with a fantastic element. For a viewer looking for an explanation, the film never says where the link comes from.
