B. Gopal's 2002 Telugu film follows a man trying to end a feud between two families over water. To make peace he agrees to marry a woman from the rival side, while his own past sits at the very centre of that feud. The second half opens with a flashback. Who he is and why he concealed his identity come out; the narrative presents his decision to give up violence on the scale of heroism. Chiranjeevi leads and the film was among the largest commercial successes of the period in Telugu cinema. Action and song sequences take wide space, and the narrative follows the commercial pattern completely. Who it's for: those who like commercial Telugu action drama of the two thousands. Who it's not for: viewers expecting restrained violence; the film stages its conflict for spectacle.
