Innocent Steps

Chae-rin comes to Korea from Yanbian in China in her sister's place and under her sister's name. The man opposite her, Yeong-sae, used to be a good dancer; he is finished now and is looking for a partner for a competition. Chae-rin cannot dance. Yeong-sae works this out late and has no other option. They train for months. Her staying in Korea depends on a marriage on paper, his comeback depends on the competition, and so each of them needs the other. Park Young-hoon directs the Korean film; a hundred and ten minutes, with Moon Geun-young as Chae-rin and Park Gun-hyung as Yeong-sae. It uses the shape of a dance-competition picture, but behind it is the situation of ethnic Koreans born in China who come to Korea to work.
