Inuk

Inuk is sixteen years old. He lives in the capital of Greenland. Life at home is not safe for him. His mother struggles with drink and his stepfather is violent. One morning he is pulled half frozen out of an abandoned car. The social services send him north. On a small island out on the sea ice there is a children’s home. Inuk is placed there. He meets a hunter named Ikuma. Ikuma hunts polar bear, but he has troubles of his own. His past weighs on him and his skill at the hunt is slipping away. Aviaaja, who runs the home, asks Ikuma to take the boy on his annual seal hunt. The voyage is long and dangerous. The city boy and the hunter of the north set out together by dogsled. On the way they meet more than the cold and the thin ice. Gaba Petersen and Ole Jørgen Hammeken appear in the ninety minute film, a French and Greenlandic co-production Mike Magidson finished in 2012.
