Sara Indrio Jensen What Italian for Beginners Is About
An evening Italian class in a suburb of Copenhagen. The people who turn up do not know each other, and none of them is really there to learn Italian: a young pastor who lost his wife, a lonely hotel receptionist, a shop assistant who drops everything she touches, an Italian waitress living in a country whose language she cannot speak, a foul-mouthed restaurant manager, and a hairdresser caring for her mother. Scherfig shot it under the Dogme 95 rules, and it is still one of the warmest films of its kind.
