J.A. Martin Photographer

The film is set in Quebec at the turn of the century. J.A. Martin is a travelling photographer. Every year he makes a tour of the countryside. His wife Rose-Aimée stays at home. The woman is worn out by the work of the house. This time she makes a different decision. She leaves the children with an aunt. She sets off on the road with her husband. What she hopes is to bring the marriage back to life. Along the way they go from village to village. Martin takes his photographs and Rose-Aimée stands beside him. Through the tour the two of them travel side by side. The account is built on that journey. Monique Mercure and Marcel Sabourin take the leads, with Jean Lapointe also in the cast, in Jean Beaudin’s Canadian film of 1977.
