What Jaadugar Is About
A magician who works small stages, knows nothing about football and has no wish to learn, has exactly one condition to meet before he can marry the woman he loves: get his neighbourhood's team to the final of the tournament. The team is bad, he is worse, and there is not much time. Sameer Saxena works in the small-town Indian comedy vein: unshowy, warm and quite long. Jitendra Kumar leads it, with Javed Jaffrey in the cast. Every shape a sports film can take is present, but what sits at the centre is not winning. It is keeping a promise, and being treated as somebody in the place you come from.
