What Jaanu Is About
Decades after school, Ram and Jaanu meet again at a reunion. Over the course of a single evening they reopen their past: affection, care, depth and grief stand side by side inside the same conversation. The film uses the present very little; its weight lies in the years the two of them remember. The account does not try to correct the past and promises no return of what was lost. Remembering itself stands in place of event. How differently two people carry the same events becomes visible by degrees. It is a remake of a film in another language. Sharwanand and Samantha Ruth Prabhu appear in C. Prem Kumar’s hundred and fifty one minute Telugu film, completed in 2020.
