Jack Vosmyorkin, American

Yakov was orphaned as a child. He then ended up in America by chance. He grew up there and became Jack. Years later he decides to go back. Where he arrives is the village he was born in. The year is 1928. He has a plan in mind. He wants land and means to farm it. An American friend gave him seed. The seed is cigar tobacco. Jack sets about planting it. The village, though, is run another way. The country is moving to collective farms. The two views run into each other. The story comes from a 1930 book by Nikolai Smirnov, and the film was made as a musical comedy. Alexander Kuznetsov and Lev Durov appear in the hundred and fifty eight minute film, a Soviet production Yevgeni Tatarsky finished in 1988.
