Je'vida

Iida is an elderly Sámi woman. She has moved away from her own roots. There is a reason for that. The Sámi in Finland were subjected to forced Finnishization. Under that pressure Iida gave up her language and her customs. Now there is the question of her old house. She is thinking of selling the family homestead. She finds the decision hard. Her niece is with her. She keeps her past hidden from the girl. Her niece knows nothing of it. The rural life she left comes back in front of her. What she pushed down begins to return. Iida is caught between the two. The account is set between two worlds. Agafia Niemenmaa and Heidi Juliana Gauriloff appear in the ninety nine minute film, a Finnish production Katja Gauriloff finished in 2023.
