J'me sens pas belle

Fanny, in her mid-thirties, is tired of relationships that do not work. This time she plans something simple: she will invite Paul from the office over, it will be one night, and there will be no after. She prepares everything, the music, the light, the clothes. Paul arrives. Then Fanny's clumsiness takes over and the plan comes apart step by step. Bernard Jeanjean's film takes place almost entirely in one flat and leans on two performers. The comedy comes out of embarrassment: a woman who does not find herself attractive trying to be attractive, and sinking further with every move. Marina Foïs plays Fanny and Julien Boisselier plays Paul. The telling puts the woman in ridiculous positions without mocking her; in the end the film is on her side.
