What Johnny Keep Walking! Is About
An ordinary technician at a rural factory ends up in a senior management chair at head office thanks to a clerical error and a favour that went wrong. He has no idea what he is doing, but then neither does anyone around him. The film goes after Chinese corporate language: the pretty names given to layoffs, the meaningless meetings, the pressure travelling down and the lies travelling up. It was a large hit because it described exactly what white-collar workers were living through. The Chinese title refers to the company's annual gala and has nothing to do with the English one.
