Joni

The film is adapted from a book Joni Eareckson wrote herself. At seventeen she broke her neck in a swimming accident and was left paralysed. Afterwards she had to learn to live as she now was. She tried holding a brush in her mouth and began to paint. The film gives this not as a story of miracle but as a long period of adjustment. That a change in the body changes a person’s relations with everyone around her is the real subject. Joni Eareckson appears in the film herself. It is one of the faith themed works of American cinema in 1979. Bert Remsen and Katherine De Hetre are also in the cast of James F. Collier’s hundred and twelve minute American film, completed in 1979.
