What The Hiding Place Is About
Corrie and Betsie ten Boom are middle-aged sisters working in their father's watchmaker's shop in Holland before the war. The German occupation ends the quiet of it: they begin hiding Jews in the house and breaking the rationing rules to feed them. Eventually they are informed on and sent to a concentration camp, where their faith is the only thing left to hold. James F. Collier adapted Corrie ten Boom's own book. It was made by a religious production company and makes no secret of it; the framing is explicitly one of faith. It still refuses to soften the camp. Jeannette Clift plays Corrie in her first film role, with Julie Harris as Betsie.
