Justine

A woman who has lost her husband is caught between looking after her children and finding work in the new state she has moved to. In the end she takes on the care of Justine, an eight year old girl with a physical disability. An unexpected closeness forms between them; the woman contends at once with her own grief and with the patience the work demands. The film does not make caring into sentimental material; it shows the daily routines, the tiredness and the two of them getting used to each other. The account presents the child neither as a hero nor as someone to be pitied. Daisy Prescott and Stephanie Turner appear in Stephanie Turner’s hundred and five minute American film, completed in 2019.
