Kaalia

The name Kaalia strikes fear into the public and the police alike, but he was not always such a man. Years ago he was a plain fellow living in one room of a tenement with his elder brother, his sister in law and their daughter. Then Shahani Seth appears and scatters that small world; on that day the old man dies and the dreaded Kaalia is born. His purpose becomes wealth and the destruction of Shahani. The path of violence brings him to an inspector’s jail; while Shahani gathers his power outside, inside Kaalia clashes with the inspector. The film works with the revenge mould of Indian cinema of the eighties and says that the crime was born out of an injustice. Amitabh Bachchan and Amjad Khan appear in Tinnu Anand’s hundred and seventy five minute Indian film, completed in 1981.
