What Kaamyaab Is About
Sudheer is a supporting player who has appeared in four hundred and ninety-nine Hindi films in small parts. He comes out of retirement chasing the five hundredth, and what he wants is not fame but to be remembered. Hardik Mehta’s first feature reads like a letter to the crowd of performers who gave the films of the sixties and seventies their flavour and whose names nobody kept. The character’s name is not accidental either: the director has said he started from a real bit-part actor called Sudhir. Sanjay Mishra takes the lead and Deepak Dobriyal plays his manager. It showed at Busan and opened in 2020.
