What For Love and Honor Is About

Ali Osman was once a kabadayı, one of Istanbul's old-style tough men with a code; he has left those days behind and runs a five-a-side pitch. Tracing the woman he loved years ago, he learns he has a son. Murat works at a bar, and his girlfriend Karaca is there too. Devran, a mafia figure fixated on Karaca, will flatten anyone in his way to take her. All Ali Osman wants is to protect his son. Ömer Vargı directed; Şener Şen plays Ali Osman and Kenan İmirzalıoğlu plays Devran. An elegy that honours the old code, heavy on violence, and its nostalgia is open to argument.
