Snow Pirates

The film is set in Kars in 1981. A year has passed since the coup. The region stays under snow for months. That winter it is almost impossible to find coal. Only certain people and state institutions can get hold of it. Serhat, Gürbüz and İbo are close friends. All three are children. The school holiday begins. But instead of playing they go out looking for coal. What they want is to heat their homes. The search takes them all around the town. That is how the solidarity between them is built. What they go through shapes their childhood. Yakup Özgür Kurtaal and Ömer Uluç take the leads in Faruk Hacıhafızoğlu’s Turkish film of 2015.
