Kara

Kara is a heist action thriller set in the early 1990s, following a former thief who returns to crime after predatory banks seize his family's ancestral land, with a determined cop closing in on his trail. Starring Dhanush, it was known during production by the code name "D54," since it marked the actor's 54th film as lead; shooting ran from July to mid December 2025. Made on a budget of roughly 100 crore rupees, it grossed only about 54.82 crore worldwide, recovering just 37 to 40 percent of its budget and landing as a clear box office disappointment. Who it's for: fans of Dhanush's heist action work who want to judge the film on its own regardless of its box office outcome. Who it's not for: anyone looking for a big commercial hit or strong critical consensus, since the film drew mixed reviews and struggled commercially.
