Shane Black adapting Donald E. Westlake. The source is the twenty-four-novel Parker series Westlake wrote as Richard Stark. Lee Marvin, Robert Duvall and Mel Gibson have all played the character before, though not under the name Parker, because Westlake withheld its use for years. Black co-wrote the screenplay with Charles Mondry and Anthony Bagarozzi. It went out on 1 October 2025 through Amazon MGM on Prime Video. A professional thief is cut out by his own crew and takes on a far larger job to recover both his money and the account. Black's usual shape is here: a crime picture, hard dialogue, and a running line of sardonic talk carried through the middle of the violence. Mark Wahlberg plays Parker and LaKeith Stanfield his partner, with Rosa Salazar, Keegan-Michael Key and Tony Shalhoub in support. Black's signature as a writer has come from the same place for forty years: Lethal Weapon, The Last Boy Scout, Last Action Hero and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. This continues that line. Who it is for: viewers who like Shane Black's dialogue register and professional heist stories. Who it is not for: anyone expecting the coldness of the Parker novels. Stark's character does not make jokes; this film makes them constantly.
