Kick

Surender Reddy's 2009 Telugu film is among the most cited works of Ravi Teja's career. Kalyan is a man who seeks constant excitement rather than a settled life, looking for a kick in everything he does. His relationship with Naina ends over their differences. Meanwhile a young policeman is pursuing a major thief, and that thief is Kalyan. The structure rests on withholding the protagonist's motivation until late, which freshens the familiar action comedy template a little. Ravi Teja's comic timing carries the film, while the Brahmanandam sections are the standard equipment of Telugu cinema at the time. It was remade in Hindi and Tamil. Its weakness is a second half that falls into repetition. Who it's for: viewers who like commercial Telugu cinema and Ravi Teja's comic work. Who it's not for: anyone wanting a tight plot, or bothered by comedy sections constantly stopping the story.
