What King Creole Is About
New Orleans. Danny Fisher has dropped out of school and buses tables at a nightclub. One night he gets on stage, his talent is noticed, and Maxie Fields, the local crime boss, wants him working at his own club. Danny refuses, but Fields is not a man who accepts no. Elvis Presley leads, and this is usually counted his best acting; it was his last film before he went into the army. Michael Curtiz directed and Walter Matthau plays Fields. Adapted from a Harold Robbins novel, with the story moved from New York to New Orleans.
