Kobane

The year is 2014 and ISIS holds a wide stretch of Syria and Iraq. The group is pushing towards the city of Kobanê. Resistance is organised inside the city. The defenders are few and poorly armed. The other side is both numerous and well equipped. At the centre of the story is a woman fighter. The command of her position falls vacant. She gathers the remaining fighters and leads them. The fighting goes on street by street. The film is based on a real siege. It was shot in Kobanê itself. Actual fighters were part of the cast. The production is the account of the side that lived through the siege. Dijle Arjîn and Awar Elî appear in the hundred and fifty eight minute film, a French, Iraqi, Spanish and Syrian co-production by the Rojava Film Commune finished in 2022.
