Komola Rocket

The film takes place aboard a steamer. The boat picks up its passengers and sets off. Those passengers come from different classes and different beliefs. Life on the deck and life below are not the same life. The boat turns into a small society of its own. Partway through the passage it runs aground. As the wait stretches out, everyone’s patience gives way. People are pushed closer together and start wearing on each other. What was being kept hidden comes out piece by piece. Secrets, appetites and calculations gather on the same deck. The difference in class shows more clearly in that narrow space. The boat is working the river routes of Bangladesh. Komola in the title means orange, and Rocket is what these steamers are called. The script was adapted from two short stories by Shahaduz Zaman. The film moves through small moments rather than large events. Mosharraf Karim and Tauquir Ahmed appear in the ninety five minute film, a Bangladeshi production Nur Imran Mithu finished in 2018.
