Kothanodi: The River of Fables

The film is built from four separate stories. The stories come from the folk tales of Assam. At the centre of each is a mother. Each of them is dealing with a trouble of her own. One is trying to protect her daughter. One is under pressure from her neighbours. One has been left alone in her own house. Strange happenings run through the tales. The account passes them on as they are. Horror and folk tale are woven together. The setting is villages along a river. The four stories are tied to one another. The account runs as fantasy and horror. Seema Biswas and Adil Hussain take the leads, with Zerifa Wahid and Urmila Mahanta also in the cast, in Bhaskar Hazarika’s Indian film of 2015.
