Lady Nazca

With the Second World War drawing near and having already lost everything, Maria Reiche flees Germany and arrives in Peru. There she tries to fit into a society that holds itself in, for the sake of Amy, the woman she loves. She finds the work that is really hers only when she travels to the desert of Nazca and comes upon the mysterious lines drawn in the ground. Against everyone and everything she ties her fate to those lines and takes it upon herself to find their meaning; the road brings her into great danger but at last gives her a place where she belongs. The film sets out from the life of a real person, and what it says about her private life is the film’s own construction. Devrim Lingnau plays the lead in Damien Dorsaz’s ninety minute film, completed in 2025.
