What Las acacias Is About
Rubén drives a lorry, hauling timber from Paraguay to Buenos Aires over several days. His boss tells him to take a passenger along: Jacinta. When she climbs into the cab at a stop, she has her five-month-old daughter Anahí with her. Rubén did not know about the baby and is not pleased. After that they barely speak. The film stays in that cab: a few sentences, a few glances, a crying child. Something builds between the two of them, and nobody names it. Pablo Giorgelli's first film. Eighty-five minutes, with Germán de Silva as Rubén and Hebe Duarte as Jacinta. It won the Caméra d'Or, the Cannes award for a first feature, in 2011.
