What Last Exit to Brooklyn Is About

Brooklyn, 1952, during a long strike. Harry, a union man, is forced to face his own homosexuality; Tralala, a prostitute, falls for one of her clients; a family cannot handle a daughter pregnant outside marriage. Adapted from Hubert Selby Jr.'s novel, which was prosecuted for obscenity in Britain on publication, with the conviction later overturned. Uli Edel directed, with music by Mark Knopfler. Jennifer Jason Leigh plays Tralala. A serious warning is needed: the film contains a long and almost unwatchable gang rape scene, and it is full of violence and hatred besides.
