What Last Winter, We Parted Is About
An ambitious young reportage writer reopens a case everyone else considers closed. A blind woman died in a fire that broke out during a shoot, the celebrated art photographer working with her is the suspect, and Yakumo intends to make a book out of it. The closer he gets, the more his own questions start to bend, the distance between him and his fiancée widens, and the matter of who is using whom keeps its answer until the last possible moment. Tomoyuki Takimoto directs from Tetsuya Oishi’s adaptation of Fuminori Nakamura’s 2013 novel, with Takanori Iwata, Mizuki Yamamoto and Takumi Saitoh moving through a structure built on the premise that the truth cannot be assembled from a single point of view.
