Le fils préféré

Jean-Paul Mantegna, who runs a hotel in Nice, has seen both his business and his private life come apart, and he urgently needs a large sum of money. His retired father Raphaël is in no position to help, which leaves his two brothers. The elder, Francis, is a teacher his father pushed away for being gay, and has nothing. The younger, Philippe, is a lawyer in Milan and flatly refuses. Nicole Garcia tells a story that turns on money but is not really about money: it is about which son a father chose and how the ones who were not chosen have carried that for years. When the father goes missing the three brothers are forced together, and what has gone unsaid for years comes out along the way. Garcia lets nobody off and proves nobody right.
