Ariela is a young woman raised inside the Syrian Jewish community of Mexico City, where her family presses her to find a suitable husband. When she meets Ivan, who is not Jewish, and begins a secret relationship with him, she is expected to choose between the man she loves and the community she grew up in, and nobody will let a woman have both. Isaac Cherem wrote his first feature together with Naian González Norvind, who also plays the lead, and the film observes the community from inside rather than from a visitor’s distance. The ninety five minute Mexican production screened at the Morelia International Film Festival on 22 October 2018, where González Norvind won the best actress prize. Christian Vazquez and Carlos Aragón appear alongside her.
