Like Asura

The four Takezawa sisters learn that their father has a child by another woman and hire a private detective to look into it. But as the investigation goes on it is not only their father’s story that comes out; what each of the four is hiding in her own house becomes visible one by one. The film shows that what holds a family together is silence as much as affection, and it runs that between comedy and drama. That the four sisters, angry at their father, cannot see what they are doing in their own lives is the joke the account is making. It was adapted from a television series. Shinobu Otake and Tatsuya Nakadai appear in Yoshimitsu Morita’s hundred and thirty five minute Japanese film, completed in 2003.
