Little Vampire

In a German suburb the young woman meant to be looking after the children is too taken up with her own affairs and leaves a boy alone with his little sister. Then the girl goes missing. The real subject of the film is not that disappearance but what comes after it: the family and the neighbourhood choosing silence, concealment and treating it as though it had not happened rather than facing what occurred. The account blames nobody directly; it shows how responsibility is parcelled out and how everyone finds a reason for themselves. The film comes from the vein of German cinema at the end of the sixties that looked hard at family and provincial morality. Sieghardt Rupp appears in Roland Klick’s eighty six minute German film, completed in 1968.
