Love Above Pyramid's Plateau

The film follows a young couple in Cairo trying to marry. Both of them earn very little. Finding a flat in the crowded city is close to impossible. Rent and costs run past what they have. They marry in secret without telling their families. But they have nowhere to go. One night they go out to the foot of the pyramids. The morality police find them there and take them in. The secret marriage reaches the families that way. The affair turns into a scandal and the file goes to the prosecutor. The account comes from a novel of the same name by Naguib Mahfouz. What the film shows is how hard the plainest wish becomes. Ahmed Zaki and Athar ElHakim take the leads in the hundred and twenty six minute film, an Egyptian production Atef El-Tayeb finished in 1986.
