What A Short Film About Love Is About
A nineteen year old who works at a post office watches a flat in the opposite block through a telescope. The woman he watches realises he is there. The film is not a pared-down surveillance thriller; the narrative asks what the thing he calls love actually is, and she puts that question to him directly. In the second half the direction of looking reverses. Krzysztof Kieslowski directed. It was expanded from an episode of the Dekalog series, and the cinema version's ending differs from the television one. Before watching: check which version you have; two endings circulate and their meanings diverge markedly. The film also contains a suicide attempt.
