What Decalogue V Is About
This is the fifth of the ten parts of Kieślowski's Dekalog, fifty-seven minutes on the commandment against killing. Jacek is a young man drifting with no attachments to anyone. He murders a taxi driver for no reason, at length and horribly. His case goes to Piotr, a young lawyer who opposes capital punishment. The film then shows a second killing, this one carried out by the state. Sławomir Idziak shot almost every frame through a green filter. Kieślowski later expanded this episode into a feature.
