What Love and Magnets Is About
Julie comes back to Montreal after five years in Guatemala and moves in with her older sister Jeanne. Jeanne and her fiance Noel live in the same flat and lead separate lives, communicating through notes held to the fridge door with magnets. Julie starts altering what those notes say, hoping to restart a relationship that has gone flat, and meanwhile falls for Michel herself, at which point everything comes apart. Yves P. Pelletier’s first feature took seven Jutra nominations in 2005 and won three, for best screenplay, best music and best supporting actress. Isabelle Blais, Emmanuel Bilodeau and Sylvie Moreau star. The whole machine runs on what people will put on a fridge door rather than say to each other’s faces.
