Love Undercover

A newly graduated policewoman is picked for an undercover job. The task is to get close to a mob boss's son and plant a listening device on the table where the men make their deals. She is not good at police work; but that very clumsiness is what makes her someone nobody suspects. Then she genuinely falls for the son and the job comes apart. Joe Ma's Hong Kong comedy turns the serious shape of the undercover film inside out. Miriam Yeung is in the lead and the film made her a major star in Hong Kong; Daniel Wu plays the boss's son. It was a large success and two sequels followed. The tone is light and the pace fast; the crime side is not taken seriously and the romance comes forward.
