Tetsuro lives in a pleasant house in Tokyo with Aki, his young girlfriend. Both of them spend most of the day at work and their routine is settled. It is broken when Tetsuro brings his eight year old son Shun home. The boy is to stay for a while, as his mother recovers from a car accident. Aki suddenly finds herself inside a role nobody has named. She is neither the mother nor a stranger, but somewhere between the two. The film tells that uncertainty in long takes and with little intervention. The hundred and forty seven minutes pass inside a single house. Tomokazu Miura and Makiko Watanabe appear in Nobuhiro Suwa’s Japanese film, completed in 1999.
