What Madonna and the Breakfast Club Is About
The years when Madonna was still nobody in New York: no money, no proper place to live, and a first band called the Breakfast Club. The documentary is about the fight to come out from behind the drum kit and the road to that first solo record deal. Guy Guido joins recordings from the period and the accounts of former band members to dramatised scenes, and what results sits between documentary and fiction. What it describes is not the enormous star to come but somebody in her early twenties with nothing at all except her own stubbornness.
